Creating websites for dentistry with a focus on trust
Dear doctors, I have been creating websites for dental clinics for several years. This is a difficult but extremely important task, because the website is the face of your practice on the Internet. Today I will share my observations and answer the key question: how to prepare for creating a website and what to fill the dentistry website with so that it attracts patients and builds trust.
If you prepare the materials described in this article for your future website, no matter who makes the website for you, any developer, any web studio, will make it good.

Realistic Goals: Don't Copy Top Websites
When a clinic manager decides to create a website, they often start by analyzing competitors, saving ideas they like. This is a logical and correct step. But there's a nuance: many focus on websites from the top of search results. Such resources, as a rule, are created over years by large marketing departments of chain clinics together with web agencies. The desire to replicate their success without considering resources and time is like going to the gym and telling the trainer: "I want to become a bodybuilding champion," which is objectively impossible, but doesn't mean you shouldn't train.
Creating a large website for a dentistry with 50–70 pages is a real task, but it requires significant investments of time and budget. Planning the structure, writing texts, web design development, programming — each stage is important. When clients realize the scale of tasks for each page and their quantity, their enthusiasm often fades. But this is not a reason to abandon work on the website! It is important to set realistic tasks that match your clinic's capabilities.
In reality, it would be optimal to buy from me a ready-made website project for dentistry, where everything is already done, and simply adapt it for your clinic. But if you want to make your own individual dentistry website, we will continue the conversation about how to do it correctly.
If you have a small dentistry with 2–3 chairs
Set the task for the developer to create a small website with 5–7 pages, for the most important services. This will help them focus on important details. Gradually, in the future, you can increase their number to 10–15 pages. A normal pace is 1 page per month.
And let's agree right away, copying other people's websites is a bad idea. In Russia, content is protected by copyright, and hosting providers quickly block duplicates to avoid legal problems. Instead of copying, draw inspiration from websites of well-known dentists whose resources are simple but effective due to showcasing cases and professionalism.
Content for the future website: what is important for patients
Now to the main point: what should the clinic prepare so that anyone who takes on creating a website for your dentistry does it well.
Medical information: professionally and from the doctor
The first part is a detailed description of the treatment: causes of diseases, diagnostic methods, procedure stages. Present the information from the doctor's perspective, emphasizing the unique techniques and equipment of your clinic. This is not just a retelling of a textbook, but a demonstration of your experience and approach.
Ask those who will make your website to avoid a "wall of text" — and use short paragraphs, icons, and quality illustrations. This makes the website readable and improves its positions in search engines thanks to SEO optimization.
On my own projects of ready-made websites for dentistry I have reduced the block with medical information so much that there is practically none left. Previously, it occupied about 1/3 of the page. Studying how the visitor's attention is distributed on the page, I saw that people scroll through this block without reading it; they are not interested in it. And in my current websites, it is absent.
The introductory word at the beginning of each page remains, but its task is different: not to talk about treatment, but to psychologically support the person, give them hope, and promise a caring attitude and solution to their problems. Thus, the block with medical information turned into a block of psychological support and patient motivation.
In preparation for creating a website, think about what words will reveal your experience in treatment and show you as a responsible and understanding specialist.
Social proofs: photo protocol and "before and after" examples
The second part is demonstrating your work. "Before and after" photographs with a detailed description of the treatment stages are the best way to win patient trust. For example:
- On the page for caries treatment, show a complex case on front teeth, showing a beautiful result, indicating the doctor and the material used.
- For prosthetics, in addition to a beautiful result, demonstrate the process: tooth preparation and ceramic restorations on a model.
- For orthodontists, it's easiest: a photo protocol of dental arch movement is always impressive.
Photo protocol in dentistry is not only a marketing tool but also legal protection for the clinic. Systematic implementation of photography increases patient satisfaction and their trust. It's important, if you want to publish a patient's photo with their face, obtain consent for photo publication. Sometimes patients are shy, but increasingly they understand that the photo protocol is needed for transparency and clarity, and it helps the patient see the problem and its solution.
The role of photographs in web design
High-quality photographs from the clinic create an atmosphere and enhance trust. I have written a detailed article dedicated to clinic photography. In it, I highlight four types of shots necessary for creating a beautiful dentistry website:
Doctor portraits
Individual and collective, horizontal and vertical. Portraits create a personal connection with the patient and emphasize the professionalism of the team.
Story photos
Meeting the patient, examination, X-ray, discussing a tomography scan at the computer. Such shots help the website visitor imagine the treatment process and associate themselves with the model in the photo.
Product photography
Microscopes, scanners, models with crowns and aesthetic prosthetics, endodontic instruments, whitening systems, composite sets. Photograph equipment in the clinic interiors or in the doctor's hands to show technological advancement.
Clinic interiors
Bright, clean photographs of offices that look better than in reality. This enhances the perception of the quality of your practice.
For shooting, hire a professional photographer, possibly a wedding photographer, with experience and quality optics. In million-plus cities, a photo session will cost from 25 thousand rubles, in Moscow — from 30 thousand. Plan that a full-fledged clinic photo session will take a whole day to get a full set of shots. An example of excellent work is the photo gallery of the "Dental Design" clinic in Vologda. Their portraits, interiors, and story shots are a benchmark of professionalism. Beautiful doctors, bright offices, subtle style of the patient model — this is the level to strive for.
Beautiful photographs will set the level for your future website, no matter who takes on the creation of your dental website, a renowned web studio or an individual freelance web developer. Photographs will be the main element of the design and set its mood.
Why a photo protocol is the key to trust
Social proof is something that no website developer will do for you. Patients trust the experience of other people. Show that you have many successful cases. For example:
- On the implantation page, demonstrate the stages: from implant placement to the final crown.
- For surgeons, it is more difficult, but you can show the preparation process or the result of a complex operation.
- Orthodontists win due to visual photos of teeth alignment.
Most likely, the first shots will be blurry and unclear, overexposed or dark, taken from different angles, that's normal! After a year of working with a photo protocol, you will notice how everything fell into place and good photos are obtained automatically. The shots became in a single style, clear and beautiful, taken from the same angle. You will supplement them with your comments, and such cases will be interesting for your visitors to look at, they inspire trust. And also, you will notice how patients at the appointment repeat your professional words and terms, this shows how thoroughly people read and try to understand in search of solutions to their problems.
Practical tips for dental marketing
Prices
Patients want to see the price immediately, but do not separate the price list into a separate page - this reduces views of internal sections. I believe it is optimal to place prices next to service descriptions, next to case studies.
Avoid clichés
Phrases like "quality quality" or "professional professionals" are off-putting. Use precise terms: "accelerated osteointegration," "deep medicinal treatment," "precise visual control." Such phrases increase trust because the person understands their meaning and benefit.
Photoprotocol as a system
Motivate doctors to implement photography into their work. This is not a one-time action, but part of the clinic's reputation. A systematic approach that will radically change the future of your clinic. Constantly updating and developing a portfolio is important to keep in mind when creating a dental website.
SEO for dentists
The website should attract visitors on its own, thanks to SEO optimization. In small towns, promoting a website is very easy, it's foolish not to use this, giving visitors to competitors.
Choosing a CMS and constructor
I pay great attention to the entire website lifecycle; it doesn't end with creation. Read the article about the possibilities of managing a website without programming.
Conclusion: reputation, not marketing
Dentistry is a competitive and reputation-based field. To stand out, do not compete on price, but invest in authority and reputation.
Create a high-quality website for your dentistry with empathy, with humane texts and atmospheric photographs, strengthens trust with your work, all of this increases conversion and brings requests from the website. Start small, but do it systematically.
