Creating websites for dentistry with a focus on trust
Dear doctors, I have been creating websites for dental clinics for several years. This is a difficult but extremely important task, because the website is the face of your practice on the Internet. Today I will share my observations and answer the key question: how to prepare for creating a website and what to fill the dentistry website with so that it attracts patients and builds trust.
If you prepare the materials described in this article for your future website, no matter who makes the website for you, any developer, any web studio, will make it good.

Realistic Goals: Don't Copy Top Websites
When a clinic manager decides to create a website, they often start by analyzing competitors, saving ideas they like. This is a logical and correct step. But there's a nuance: many focus on websites from the top of search results. Such resources, as a rule, are created over years by large marketing departments of chain clinics together with web agencies. The desire to replicate their success without considering resources and time is like going to the gym and telling the trainer: "I want to become a bodybuilding champion," which is objectively impossible, but doesn't mean you shouldn't train.
Creating a large website for a dentistry with 50–70 pages is a real task, but it requires significant investments of time and budget. Planning the structure, writing texts, web design development, programming — each stage is important. When clients realize the scale of tasks for each page and their quantity, their enthusiasm often fades. But this is not a reason to abandon work on the website! It is important to set realistic tasks that match your clinic's capabilities.
In reality, it would be optimal to buy from me a ready-made website project for dentistry, where everything is already done, and simply adapt it for your clinic. But if you want to make your own individual dentistry website, we will continue the conversation about how to do it correctly.
If you have a small dentistry with 2–3 chairs
Set the task for the developer to create a small website with 5–7 pages, for the most important services. This will help them focus on important details. Gradually, in the future, you can increase their number to 10–15 pages. A normal pace is 1 page per month.
And let's agree right away, copying other people's websites is a bad idea. Content is protected by copyright, and hosting providers act quickly to block duplicates once a complaint is raised, to avoid legal problems. Instead of copying, draw inspiration from websites of well-known dentists whose resources are simple but effective due to showcasing cases and professionalism.
Content for the future website: what is important for patients
Now to the main point: what should the clinic prepare so that anyone who takes on creating a website for your dentistry does it well.
Medical information: professionally and from the doctor
The first element is a detailed description of the treatment itself: the causes of the condition, the diagnostic methods, the stages of the procedure. Present it from the dentist's own perspective, highlighting the unique techniques and equipment your clinic uses. This shouldn't read like a textbook chapter — it should demonstrate your own experience and approach.
Ask whoever builds your website to avoid a "wall of text" — insist on short paragraphs, icons and quality illustrations instead. Not only does this make the site far more readable, it also improves its search engine rankings through proper SEO.
On my own ready-made dental website projects, I've trimmed the block of medical information right down until almost nothing of it remains. It used to take up around a third of the page. But once I studied how visitors' attention actually moves across the page, I noticed people simply scroll past this block without reading it — it holds no interest for them. On my current sites, it's gone entirely.
The opening words at the top of each page remain, but their job has changed: rather than explaining the treatment, their purpose now is to reassure the reader psychologically — to offer hope, and the promise of a caring attitude and a genuine solution to their problem. In effect, the block of medical information has become a block of reassurance and patient motivation instead.
As you prepare for your own website, think carefully about which words will reveal your experience in treatment, and present you as a responsible, understanding practitioner.
The Role of Photography in Web Design
High-quality photographs from the clinic create an atmosphere and strengthen trust. I've written a detailed article dedicated entirely to clinic photography, in which I set out the four types of shot you need to build a genuinely beautiful dental website:
Doctor portraits
Individual and collective, horizontal and vertical. Portraits create a personal connection with the patient and emphasize the professionalism of the team.
Story photos
Meeting the patient, examination, X-ray, discussing a tomography scan at the computer. Such shots help the website visitor imagine the treatment process and associate themselves with the model in the photo.
Product photography
Microscopes, scanners, models with crowns and aesthetic prosthetics, endodontic instruments, whitening systems, composite sets. Photograph equipment in the clinic interiors or in the doctor's hands to show technological advancement.
Clinic interiors
Bright, clean photographs of offices that look better than in reality. This enhances the perception of the quality of your practice.
For the shoot itself, hire a professional photographer — a wedding photographer with the right experience and quality optics is often an excellent choice. In cities of a million-plus, a session will typically cost from 25 thousand roubles; in Moscow, upwards of 30 thousand. Budget a full day for a proper clinic photo session, to come away with a complete set of shots. The photo gallery of the "Dental Design" clinic in Vologda is an excellent example of the standard to aim for — their portraits, interiors and story shots are a genuine benchmark of professionalism: handsome dentists, bright surgeries, and a subtly styled patient model.
Beautiful photography will set the tone for your entire website, whichever freelance web developer or renowned web studio ends up building it. The photographs will be the principal element of the design, and they'll set its whole mood.
Why a photo protocol is the key to trust
Social proof is something no website developer can manufacture for you. Patients trust the experience of other people. Show them that you have plenty of successful cases behind you. For example:
- On the implantation page, demonstrate every stage: from implant placement through to the final crown.
- For surgeons it's trickier, but you can still show the preparation process, or the result of a complex operation.
- Orthodontists have it easiest of all, thanks to the sheer visual impact of teeth-straightening photos.
The first attempts will most likely come out blurred, overexposed or too dark, shot from all manner of angles — and that's entirely normal! After a year of working consistently with a photo protocol, you'll notice everything falling into place, and good photographs starting to happen almost automatically. The shots will settle into a single, coherent style — sharp, attractive, and taken from the same angle each time. Add your own commentary to each case, and visitors will find them genuinely engaging to look through; they inspire real trust. You'll also start to notice patients, in the surgery, repeating back the professional terms and phrases you've used — proof of just how thoroughly people read and try to understand what they find, in their search for a solution.
Practical tips for dental marketing
Prices
Patients want to see the price immediately, but do not separate the price list into a separate page - this reduces views of internal sections. I believe it is optimal to place prices next to service descriptions, next to case studies.
Avoid clichés
Phrases like "quality quality" or "professional professionals" are off-putting. Use precise terms: "accelerated osteointegration," "deep medicinal treatment," "precise visual control." Such phrases increase trust because the person understands their meaning and benefit.
Photoprotocol as a system
Motivate doctors to implement photography into their work. This is not a one-time action, but part of the clinic's reputation. A systematic approach that will radically change the future of your clinic. Constantly updating and developing a portfolio is important to keep in mind when creating a dental website.
SEO for dentists
The website should attract visitors on its own, thanks to SEO optimization. In small towns, promoting a website is very easy, it's foolish not to use this, giving visitors to competitors.
Choosing a CMS and constructor
I pay great attention to the entire website lifecycle; it doesn't end with creation. Read the article about the possibilities of managing a website without programming.
Conclusion: reputation, not marketing
Dentistry is a competitive, reputation-driven field. To stand out, don't compete on price — invest in authority and reputation instead.
Build a high-quality website for your practice with genuine empathy — humane copy and atmospheric photography strengthen trust in your work, and together these increase conversion and generate enquiries from the site. Start small, but do it systematically.

Social proofs: photo protocol and "before and after" examples
The second element is demonstrating your work. "Before and after" photographs, with a detailed description of each stage of treatment, remain the single best way to win a patient's trust. For example:
A dental photo protocol isn't just a marketing tool — it's legal protection for the clinic too. Implementing photography systematically increases patient satisfaction and builds trust. It's essential, if you intend to publish a photo showing a patient's face, that you obtain their consent beforehand. Some patients are shy about it, but more and more understand that the photo protocol exists for transparency and clarity, and that it helps them see both the problem and its solution for themselves.
