All three sites, of course, are now closed, but it took a lot of time and nerves. And the clinic owners are not to blame, because they simply ordered the website, and the person who created it simply found a good solution and appropriated it.

You must understand that technically, for a professional, copying any website is very easy. That's why you won't see links to my clients' websites on my website; this is my contribution to their peace of mind. Completely protecting your website from copying is only possible with the help of a lawyer.

Register the domain and hosting only in your name using your passport. Life is long, we don't know how a person will behave in a conflict situation. There have been cases when a client ordered a website, it was created on a domain and hosting belonging to the developer. Seven years later, the client wanted to redesign the website, found another developer, and the old one offers to buy the domain at his own price.

Don't put yourself in a situation where others can dictate terms to you.

And importantly, be sure to specify an email address that you actually check. In a year, you will receive a letter about domain renewal, and you must see it and respond. We know many stories when this letter was found too late, after seeing an advertisement for sale on their website. You need to understand that there are guys who hunt for released domains. Their bots are set up so that as soon as a domain becomes publicly available, they buy it and enter into negotiations with you to buy it back. So, register the domain and hosting under your primary email address.

The rule here is simple: sometimes you need to change passwords. You've made a website for your dental clinic, finished the development stage, great, change the passwords. Sometimes I am asked to fix something on a clinic's website after 2-3 years; in half the cases, the old passwords still work, and I remind my clients that updating passwords is normal practice.

Everything is easy here: limit the list of employees who have access. Talk to them so they understand that access to the website admin panel is a great responsibility. Logically, after an employee leaves, their account should be closed; this is done very easily, your website administrator can do it in less than a minute.

This is not your concern, it's the developers' responsibility, don't think about it. The only important thing to understand is where your developer gets the modules to install on the site. If they are purchased officially, and the website developer asks for payment for their annual renewal and updates, that's a good sign, that's how it should be. I don't ask my clients to pay for website updates, I update the engine, the builder, and all modules for free. But this is possible because most modules installed on my ready-made website projects for dental clinics were purchased by me at the highest price, with lifetime updates. My business allows this, it's very convenient for my clients, as their site can always be easily brought up to date.

If modules and extensions for the site are not purchased but downloaded from third-party sites, there will be a high risk of viruses appearing. My clients have encountered them, I had to treat websites from viruses. This is not always easy, but it is a solvable problem, if it happens, just involve a professional.

The main thing you need to know is that you need to create a long and complex password. Robots roam the network, guessing passwords, and once they gain access, they post the information they need on the site.

Besides password guessing, hacking modern sites is so difficult that it's almost impossible to say, all engines are securely protected.

Of course, there are ways to enhance website protection, but we have never used them because in more than 8 years of work, and hundreds of websites made for dental clinics, not a single client has lost control of their site.

The only way to gain unauthorized access to a site is to obtain the hosting (server) password or the site admin password.

If you store them in a secure place and update them after changing the contractor, you are great and your site is safe.
